Company Profile

BITUMIX (Pvt) Ltd. was incorporated in the year 2000 as a manufacturer of Bitumen based products for the road construction industry in Sri Lanka, with an initial capital of Rupees Two Million. Over the years, Bitumix has diversified it’s product portfolio into a spectrum of Bitumen based products used in industrial and civil construction products.

Company has two well equipped manufacturing facilities. Kalagedihena factory manufactures road construction products and the Homagama Industrial estate factory concentrates on industrial and civil engineering products.

In order to further emphasize our commitment to Quality and customer satisfaction, we acquire ISO 9001: 2000 Quality Management System to cover our activities at the Kalagedihena Factory very soon.

Products :

- Emulsified Bitumen

- Cutback Bitumen

- Oxidized Bitumen

Emulsified Bitumen and Cutback Bitumen are used in the modern road construction technology. Emulsified Bitumen is ‘oil in water’ type of an emulsion whereby Bitumen particles are dispersed in an aqueous solution fortified with an emulsifier and stabilizers using a colloid mill. Bitumen cutback is a proportionate mix of Bitumen and a petroleum solvent. These products are manufactured at the Kalagedihena factory.

Oxidized Bitumen which is manufactured at our Homagama factory is a grade of Bitumen manufactured starting from straight run Bitumen from a Refinery and then subjected to an oxidation process in a reactor. Oxidized Bitumen has higher softening point and penetration readings and the product is used as a raw material to make several products in primer, filler, coating and water proofing categories.

In addition to the manufactured products, BITUMIX (PRIVATE) LIMITED; authorized distributor for the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) Bitumen, operates well spread Bitumen transportation service from the CPC refinery to customer sites in every location of the Island.

The CPC Refinery Bitumen production is not sufficient to meet the local demand always and the shortage is imported in barrels. These barrels are transformed to bulk by a Decanting process and the Company operates two decanting plants; one at Homagama and another at Hambantota.

Product packaging and Delivery mechanism.

Road construction products are supplied to customers in 200 Litres barrels or in bulk tanker loads. For industrial and Civil Engineering products packaging various depend on product application requirements and the usual packs are 180 Kgs, 25 Kgs, 20 litres, 4 litres and 2 litres.
